FIDAL now is a sponsor of the photographic arts. Photography was chosen as an appropriate field of expression due to its universal influence and its ability to reach all audiences across linguistic and cultural frontiers. The creation of FIDAL Photo thus enables the practice to implement a dual approach which supports both established and new talents in the world of photography.
2015 saw FIDAL become a sponsor of the photographic arts with its patronage of a major photographic exhibition of Philippe Halsman’s work at the Jeu de Paume, as part of a move to associate the FIDAL name with the world of culture.
FIDAL’s desire to create a long-term commitment and to establish itself both with contemporary photographers and as a permanent feature of the international photography world has stimulated FIDAL to expand its impact beyond this initial sponsorship initiative.
To promote the diversity of photographic styles and formats, FIDAL has launched two separate competitions :
• FIDAL Youth Photography Awards
They are intended to enable the emergence of new talents.
• FIDAL Prize for Documentary Photography
It is intended to support a photographer during the long-term production of a subject.
